Somatic Psychotherapy

Set the body in motion and the psyche will heal itself. Movement is the medicine.

— Gabrielle Roth

My approach to therapy is rooted in compassion and a commitment to providing a skilled space for you to express yourself and learn a new way of being in the world.

I believe that you already have everything you need to heal within your body. You have deep intelligence inside of you.

My goal in our therapuetic work is to hold a skilled container for the deep wisdom inside of you and the intimacy that’s available to you.

You have a birthright to feel whole and fulfilled. A healing relationship with a therapist provides space for the unwinding of painful patterns that may get in the way that. This unique relationship between therapist and client is a powerful container for growth and transformation.

Since every client's needs and values are unique, I integrate several modalities of psychotherapy in addition to including your personal spiritual path into your healing process. I love to learn and am regularly attending new cutting-edge therapuetic trainings. My work is informed by somatic psychotherapy, attachment-based psychotherapy, Gestalt therapy, family systems, social justice advocacy, the neurobiology of relationship, as well as my personal spiritual & healing path.

In somatic therapy, body awareness is seen as the central element in learning how to know yourself and heal. The ability to be self-reflective of your body sensations is so important to healing because your emotions, impulses, boundaries and needs begin as sensations in your body.

When something challenging happens your body is designed to have strong reactions, which may feel distressing and overwhelming. A vital part of the work I do is guiding you to attend to the reactions of your body with care. I specialize in Somatic Experiencing, a powerful trauma healing modality that supports the body to release shock and stress.

Through new experiences in counseling, you can begin to rearrange old somatic patterns that arose to protect you. As you feel understood and cared for, you will replace old painful patterns with new feelings of compassion and acceptance towards yourself.
