TRAUMA RESOLUTION

Sometimes a breakdown can be the beginning of a kind of breakthrough, a way of living in advance through a trauma that prepares you for a future of radical transformation.

I'm happy you're here. It takes tremendous courage to look for a therapist and begin facing life's challenging experiences. I am committed to providing a safe, genuine and encouraging space for you to grow. We will create the process of therapy together, identifying your unique values and meeting what arises at a pace that feels right for you.

Trauma and challenging experiences can have painful impacts on every aspect of your life - your relationships with yourself and others, your emotions, your spirituality, your self-image and your sexuality. Trauma often results in painful cycles of self-protection, disconnection and loneliness. I am here to tell you that healing is possible. You already have an inner knowing that is waiting to be discovered.  I will guide you to welcome all parts of yourself home, gently turning towards the parts of yourself you may avoid or be afraid of. With a little bit of guidance, you will learn new ways to cope and move into a relationship with yourself full of self-acceptance, compassion and understanding.

5 ESSENTIAL TOOLS FOR HEALING TRAUMA

Anchor

An anchor is a concrete external resource that brings positive memories in both your body and mind. Your chosen anchor can be used consistently to bring feelings of calm, trust and relief.

Compassionate Witness

Witnessing is the ability to observe (without judgement) what is occurring in your thoughts, feelings and body sensations. This skill is important in healing from challenging experiences. It will provide you with the option to choose where you place your awareness, rather than your feelings and thoughts seeming out of your control.

Awareness of Impulses

Once you practice compassionate witnessing, you will have the ability to create space between a behavioral impulse and the decision to act on the behavior or thought. This practice of pausing will allow some space for you to make intentional choices in your life and relationships.

Redirection

Redirection is a helpful tool when you are experiencing painful or overwhelming thoughts, body sensations, images or memories. This is the process of intentionally choosing to focus on an activity, sensation, words or images that bring feelings of relief, calm and safety.

Embodied Presence

Embodied presence is the practice of noticing what is true in your body in the present moment. This will help you differentiate the past from the present. You are less likely to feel lost or stuck in painful past experiences when you are aware of your present moment body sensations.
